Reckless Romance now with a new look! Check it out below.
Reckless Romance: The Love Story Of A Secret Agent
Jannat Bhat
Published by: KDP Publishing
Genres: Contemporary, Adult, Suspense, Thriller, Romance
Summary:
“You have no idea. This is going to be one of the fireworks that the world is going to stop and watch.”
I stay rooted to the spot. He leans towards me and whispers in my ears, “It’s been nice knowing you, Violet. Maybe in another life, things will be simple. Where we didn’t have to end this way.”
My eyes dart to his hand on the remote and I see him close his eyes and almost press the button.
“I’m sorry. But I can’t let you do this.” I say and pull the trigger.
When I first saw him, I hadn’t paid much attention.
Sure, my heart skipped a beat every time he smiled at me. His mesmerizing brown eyes held me at their mercy. I could look into their depth for the rest of my life. Our connection was more than a chance encounter. It was fate.
Forever and always.
I wanted that with him. But I should have known better. People like me don’t get happy endings. I was terrified that he would leave me. But instead, I left. I would always be the one to leave.
But I made a terrible mistake. One that would cost us both our lives.
I fell in love with him. And he loved me right back

Don't miss out on all the new chapters for A LOVE LOST IN TRANSLATION by Jannat Bhat available exclusively only on #Wattpad.
"He repeats my name softly as if testing it on his lush lips, while holding onto my hand. I didn't miss how his eyes lingered on me just a little bit longer."
Summary:
It is quite simple to fall in love with someone you've known all your life. Or say someone from the same state. Or even the same country.
But do you know what happens when you fall for someone who has lived all his life half the way across the globe from you? Someone with a different upbringing, different religion and language.
It's definitely not a walk in the park, that much I can assure you.
The worst part? Figuring out if he, if we, were worth it all.
Falling in love is easy, but staying in love, that is the real struggle.

***Book Blitz*** Dangerous Kiss By Crystal Kaswell
Dangerous Kiss
Crystal Kaswell
Publication date: November 2nd 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance
He was supposed to glue my broken heart back together. Instead he threw me away.
Now he’s just another rock star asshole.
He gets everything he wants.
But not me. Not again.
Ethan Strong was the first man I ever loved. He was the one person who understood me, the one person who made me feel whole, the one person who set my body on fire.
We were supposed to be together forever. Then things got hard and Ethan forced me to choose between him and everything I’ve worked for.
Now he’s back in my life. He says we’ll be friends. It’s been a long time. I can forgive, but I can’t seem to forget. The taste of his lips, the sound of his groans in my ears, those calloused fingers between my legs– I’m going out of my mind remembering all the pleasure he brought me.
Worse, I keep thinking how happy he made me.
I can’t fall back in love with Ethan. It doesn’t matter how badly I crave his gorgeous blue eyes, his tattooed arms, and his strong guitarists’ hands. It doesn’t matter that his smile still lights me up inside. It doesn’t matter that I need him like I need oxygen.
I’m not giving Ethan another chance to throw me away.
—
EXCERPT:
His eyes meet mine with this look that begs me to spill my guts.He waits to speak until his drink is melting ice. “I know you think Mal is pulling strings to get us back together.”
“Is there a reason why you don’t object to this?”
“Mal doesn’t listen to anybody but Mal. Besides, I’ve seen him stressing about numbers. He doesn’t have the expertise. And I’m not saying you do, but he’s right. You’re somebody we trust.” Ethan’s eyes find mine. “If you want the gig, you should take it.”
His voice is even, effortless. Usually, Ethan wears his intentions on his face. But not right now.
No. That was the old Ethan, the one I knew. This playboy rock star version of Ethan… who knows what he does or why.
I take a long sip of my now lukewarm drink. “Won’t that bother you?”
“No.” His voice is shaky for a moment. “Just, well… I’m not gonna be celibate just because you’re around.”
“Excuse me?”
“I get it. You think I’m a manwhore. I won’t argue.” He runs his hand through his wavy hair. “You’re right. I fuck a lot of women. That isn’t going to change if you join us on tour.”
“Thanks for the update on your sex life.”
“Don’t want you to get upset if you see me with someone else.” His voice is clipped, his expression is frustrated.
But why? I stare back at him. “I don’t give a fuck where you stick your dick.”
“Good.”
“Yeah, great. Is that it?”
“Pretty much.”
I stare back at Ethan. I’m getting in the last word here. “Goes for you, too. I didn’t swear off sex when we broke up.”
Okay, so I’ve only slept with one guy since Ethan and I broke up. Denny and I dated for a few months. He was crazy about me—he wanted to move in together—but I never felt the same. After we broke up, he nearly evaporated from my mind. It still goes back to Ethan every time I pull out my rabbit-style vibrator (he did buy it for me). Or every time I touch myself sans mechanical assistance.
I clear my throat and smile my most confident smile. “Don’t get upset if you see me with someone else.”
“You’re sleeping around?”
“That’s not a crime, is it?” I chew on my lower lip. It’s not the case either, but he doesn’t need to know that.
“No. Of course not. I’m glad. Anybody I know?”
“No.”
“You coming often, at least?”
“Excuse me?”
“We’re gonna be around each other. We should be friendly.”
“Pretty sure you coming often goes past most people’s idea of friendly.”
“Of course, Vi. Would never want to make you uncomfortable.” He smiles, the look in his eyes screaming I guess that’s a no.
I clear my throat. “Yeah, I’m coming a lot. Every night.” By my hand, but that’s a technicality. “Sometimes multiple times.”
His expression flares with frustration. “Great.”
“And you? Enjoy screwing strangers at bars?”
“Depends on the stranger.”
I laugh-scoff. “I guess it would.”
He smiles.
Even though we’re hate-flirting, I fucking melt.

***Book Blitz*** Bad For You By Candy J. Starr (Fallen Star Series, #4)
Bad For You
Candy J. Starr
(Fallen Star Series, #4)
Publication date: October 3rd 2016
Genres: New Adult, Romance
I’d loved Devon forever, from the front row of his concerts. So, when fate gives me the chance to be his fake girlfriend for three months, I know I can make that relationship real. As I get to know Devon though, I realise how big the gap is between his image and reality. I loved Devon the rock star but could I love Devon the man?
I was in love with a ghost, the memory of a lost love. Julie. When she died, my heart had been buried with her. I had sex with a lot of woman but they were gone before the condom came off my cock. Then my dirt bag manager had the stupidest idea ever: a fake girlfriend to save my reputation. I played along to keep my fans happy but this fake girlfriend is unlike any woman I’ve met before.
If you like fake girlfriend romances, dirty rockers and stories of redemption, you’ll love Bad for You.
—
EXCERPT:
“You’re drooling,” he said. He pursed his lips as he looked at me but his eyes sparkled. He was amused.“Am not.”
“Oh, you totally are. And I find it offensive when a woman drools over something that’s not me.”
I laughed. I’d drool over him plenty. Now we would have dinner together and everything would be perfect. My skin prickled with his closeness and my body was on hyper alert. Having his gaze locked on me was a fantasy come true. I wanted to freeze his moment, maybe put it in one of those snow globes. Just Devon and I, so close that our bodies almost touched in his now-clean kitchen. I wondered if he’d kiss me.
“Do you want to fuck me?” he said, his words a challenge and the look in his eyes enough to make me break out into a cold sweat.
“Um… ah… no!”
“You lie.”
Of course I was lying but I couldn’t blatantly say to him that I wanted nothing more for him to throw me on my back and rip my panties off me. That would be the best possible outcome right now because my panties were getting wetter every minute. Was he thinking about fucking me? Was that why he asked? I should say yes. Embrace this opportunity, and Devon, with both hands. My whole body burnt. I couldn’t breathe.
“Good,” he said, before I could answer him. “Because this arrangement is just business.”

Author Bio:
Candy J. Starr used to be a band manager until she realised that the band she managed was so lacking in charisma that they actually sucked the charisma out of any room they played. “Screw you,” she said, leaving them to wallow in obscurity – totally forgetting that they owed her big bucks for video equipment hire.
Candy has filmed and interviewed some big names in the rock business, and a lot of small ones. She’s seen the dirty little secrets that go on in the back rooms of band venues. She’s seen the ugly side of rock and the very pretty one.
But, of course, everything she writes is fiction.

***Book Blitz*** #Kissing By Ellie Brixton
#Kissing
Ellie Brixton
Publication date: June 14th 2016
Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance
I was always the good girl.
Then when the pressure became too much, I took off and found me a bad boy.
Niko. The hot, British rock star and frontman of the Halos.
He took my angel wings and gave me a lot of things, well, everything but the Big O.
And fidelity.
So with my #fail in hand, I did the worst thing imaginable.
I went home. The insta-nagging, criticism, and impossible expectations reminded me why my life #sucked—the reason I left in the first place.
Well, everything was the same except for JQ, my high school crush. With a snug T-shirt and jeans that fit in all of the right places, it looks like he became man and maybe it was time for me to become a woman.
#Kissing is a sexy, rock star romance for new adult, college, and contemporary romance readers who enjoy love stories with an HEA.
Author’s note: #KISSING is a full-length, standalone novel. Due to strong language and content, this book is not intended for readers under the age of 18.
EXCERPT:
I used to be a good girl. I used to be many things. Now I just make it up as I go along. Most of the time I don’t even know what I’m doing. Only that right now, I like the way this feels. My moan disappears into the grinding of a guitar as I squeeze my eyes shut. I make my own stars as phosphenes flicker and dance behind my shuttered lids, winding through my vision in silver and yellow. I’m close, but not close enough for my mind not to wander.
JQ and I found a field as far from town as we could, dimming the city light. His fingers rested just inches from mine. We were young and nervous enough to make an excuse: a science project for Mr. Wilkins. We watched a celestial show in the sky that night, drifting to sleep under a summer blanket of stars. When dawn kissed our cold cheeks awake, we clasped hands. Then he kissed me, and I ran away.
Our lives went in parallax and here I am, my back arching as I call out with pleasure while my boyfriend has his head between my legs. I shouldn’t be thinking about someone else. But he accidentally called me Heather once—whoever that is. These days the line between right and wrong is a blur. But pleasure is pleasure. And I can’t deny Niko makes me feel good. I’ll settle for good.
Author Bio:
Ellie Brixton is a unicorn by day and an author by night. She's a firm believer in eating dessert first and fancies herself a cookie connoisseur. Although she runs every day, she wishes for a 1959 Cadillac convertible, in pink of course. This is her first novel.

***Book Blitz*** Broken Fate By Jennifer Derrick
Broken Fate
Jennifer Derrick
Published by: Clean Teen Publishing
Publication date: April 18th 2016
Genres: Mythology, Romance, Young Adult
Zeus gave her one simple job: Kill every human. Atropos—daughter of Zeus and the third goddess of Fate from Greek mythology —spends her eternal life snipping human lifelines when their mortal lives are over. As if being a killer doesn’t make life miserable enough, she and her Fate-wielding sisters must live amongst the humans on Earth thanks to a long-running feud between their mother and Zeus. Living on Earth means they must mingle with the mortals, attend the local high school, and attempt to fit in—or at least not stand out too much.
Killing and mingling don’t mix, which is why Atropos’ number-one rule is to avoid all relationships with the humans. Caring for the people she has to kill is a fast track to insanity. However, when Alex Morgan walks into her first-period English class, she knows she’s in for trouble. He’s the worst kind of human for her to like—one with a rapidly approaching expiration date. And he makes Atropos want to break all the rules.
EXCERPT:
I turn off my desk lamp and computer, starting to get up, but then sit back down. My curiosity about Alex has been building all day. I’ve tried to tamp it down, to forget him, but I can’t. Even Chloe’s chatter couldn’t take him out of my thoughts. I boot the computer back up and give in to temptation.
I search for Alex’s record in our database. What I’m doing isn’t forbidden, but I rarely bother to check on the humans once I assign their manner of death. I forget them until I see them again on their date of death. However, tonight, I want to see what kind of fate Lacey devised for him and refresh my memory about how and when he’ll die.I find his file but just as I’m about to double click and open it, I pull back. Do I really want to know what Lacey has planned for him? He’s already faced grief and loss. What if his fate gets worse than that? Do I want that knowledge?
I think for a few moments and decide it doesn’t really matter either way. He and I aren’t going to become friends. I enjoyed our afternoon together, but that has to be the end of it. If his fate is bad, I can live with it. He is, after all, just another human. Easy come, easy go.
I double click on the file. His entire past and future lies before me. I scroll down to the end of the document, looking for the relevant part, the date of death. I don’t have to scroll far.
May fifteenth of this year.
I read the page again. The date doesn’t change. May fifteenth is a little less than two months from now. I quickly scroll back up, looking for the details on how he will die. I’m furious when I find them.
Author Bio:
Jennifer is a freelance writer and novelist. As a freelancer, she writes everything from technical manuals to articles on personal finance and European-style board games. Her interest in storytelling began when she was six and her parents gave her a typewriter for Christmas and agreed to pay her $.01 per page for any stories she churned out. Such a loose payment system naturally led to a lot of story padding. Broken Fate, her first novel, earned her $2.80 from her parents.
Jennifer lives in North Carolina and, when not writing, can often be found reading, trawling the shelves at the library, playing board games, watching sports, camping, running marathons, and playing with her dog. You can visit her at her official website:www.JenniferDerrick.com.

Review : Crash (Crash #1) by Nicole Williams
Summary :
Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.
Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.
For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart.
Review :
| “You can’t be friends with the person you were meant to spent your life with” The story hooked me right from the first paragraph - I took an instant liking to it and it just immediately put you right inside the narrator's head and had me flipping pages like crazy! On the surface, its this classic bad boy meets good girl story but, right from the beginning, you can feel deeper, darker, painful undertones and you just know that when you learn the back stories, its going to be heart-wrenching. You could just feel the sizzling chemistry/connection that Lucy and Jude had when they first met. I swear I felt like I was meeting him myself - my heart was pounding and just completely melted :) But seriously, my heart just broke for Jude and his past :( Seeing someone who clearly has such a good heart be haunted by these demons and be made to think so little of himself was heart breaking. “I’m cancer, Luce. And not the kind that you can kill off with radiation. The kind that kills you in the end.” He's "a boy with beautiful eyes and an ugly past", a total and complete bad boy with a bit of a temper (especially triggered when people attack or insult his girl) who has led a very rough life, but has a heart of gold and is just totally into his girl! *SWOON* and I loved that he had a deeper side to him - life taught him some hard lesson, perhaps far too soon, but with Lucy's help, he tried so hard to overcome his past. " I did drugs. I got arrested. A lot. I screwed a lot of faceless women.” He paused, sucking in a breath. “And then I met one whose face I couldn’t forget. I fell in love with her. I hurt her because I fell in love with her and was afraid she was going to leave me the way everyone else had." I'm so excited this turned out to be a trilogy because I'm nowhere near done reading about Jude and Lucy! Ratings : 4/5 Stars |

Excerpt:
Almost a full head taller than me, he towered over me as he glared down at me. “What do you want, hime?”
For a second I was so taken aback I couldn’t speak. Hime is the Japanese word for princess. My chichi − my father − called me hime.
My surprise turned back into anger when I realized he was using the term as an insult. “I demand you show me around my gardens.”
He laughed. “I’m not your personal tour guide. Ask your husband to do it.” He turned to walk away.
Of all the rude, arrogant, insolent, rude−
I was so furious I just reacted. I grabbed his arm, whirling him around to face me. Our eyes locked. He froze, his mouth slightly parted, air sucking back into him.
His eyes were the richest, deepest brown I had ever seen, like melted chocolate with flecks of a lighter pecan brown. His lashes were so naturally thick and black that they seemed almost rimmed with kohl. They drew me in and held me like a lover’s grip. I forgot what I was about to yell at him. I forgot why I was even mad. I almost forgot how to keep myself breathing.
He glanced down and I followed his gaze. He was staring at my hand still on his arm, my fingers barely reaching halfway around his forearm. I felt the strength in his marble-sculpted muscle, the smoothness of his skin under my palm, the heat radiating from the blood that flowed through his veins.
Oh God. I was touching him.
I snatched my hand away. His eyes darted back up to my face.
“Yes?” he said, the word filled with impatience.
“You work for my husband,” I said.
“That’s right. I work for your husband. I don’t work for you.”
“If he were here−”
“He’s not here.”
“If he were here,” I said louder, “he would tell you to take me around the gardens. So do it. Now.”
He glared back at me, defiance flaring in his eyes, his cheek twitching as he tensed his jaw. The air between us filled with a thick, hot electricity. I got the distinctive feeling I had met my stubbornness match.

Review : Until You (Fall Away #1.5) by Penelope Douglas
Summary :
***This novel contains graphic sexual content and harsh language. It is only appropriate for adult readers age 18+.
Have you ever been so angry that hitting things felt good? Or so numb that you actually felt high? The past few years have been like that for me. Traveling between fury and indifference with no stops in between.
Some people hate me for it, while others are scared of me. But none of them can hurt me, because I don't care about anything or anyone.
Except Tatum.
I love her so much that I hate her. We used to be friends, but I found out that I couldn't trust her or anyone else.
So I hurt her. I pushed her away.
But I still need her. The sight of her centers me, and I can pool all of my anger into her. Engaging her, challenging her, bullying her...they are my food, my air, and the last part of me that feels anything human.
But she left. She went to France for a year, and came back a different girl.
Now, when I push, she pushes back.
Review :
“Girlfriend isn’t enough to describe you, Tate. That term is disposable. You’re not my girlfriend, my girl, or my woman. You’re. Just. Mine,” I bit out every syllable, so she would fucking understand. “And I’m yours,” I added, a little calmer.”
The retelling of a story from the guys point of view is becoming very popular these days. The results can be hit or miss. This one, for me, was a HUGE hit.
I was totally wrapped up in Tate and Jared's story in Bully. I can't say I ever forgave him for his behavior, but I decided if Tate could, then I just has to let it go.
I wasn't sure how I was going to feel, living in his head. It was a darker place then I even imagined. I still don't forgive him totally for his actions, but I DO believe he loves Tate completely.
I truly loved this book from beginning to end. Despite the fact that I already knew the outcome, most of it felt fresh and new. I felt like an essential part of the story was finally being told. It was, in my opinion, the best "retelling from his POV " book I've read so far.
Huge props to the author for another great book.

Review : With All My Soul (Soul Screamers #7) by Rachel Vincent
Summary :
What does it mean when your school is voted the most dangerous in America? It's time to kick some hellion butt...
After not really surviving her junior year (does "undead" count as survival?), Kaylee Cavanaugh has vowed to take back her school from the hellions causing all the trouble. She's going to find a way to turn the incarnations of Avarice, Envy and Vanity against one another in order to protect her friends and finish this war, once and forever.
But then she meets Wrath and understands that she's closer to the edge than she's ever been. And when one more person close to her is taken, Kaylee realizes she can't save everyone she loves without risking everything she has...
Review :
"Do you trust me, Tod?"
"With everything I have and everything I am. With all my soul."
Why do such amazing series have to end? Why can't they just go and on forever?
I feel so lost now that there will be no more Kaylee, Tod,Nash,Sabine and all others. Over the past books I've come to care so much about these characters that it just doesn't feel right for the story to end.
Over the past six books we’ve seen Kaylee go through it all: she’s loved, she’s lost, she’s fought, she’s even died. Avari has stopped at nothing in his obsessive pursuit of her soul, throwing the entire strength of the netherworld at the young bean sidhe and her loved ones. In this, the last of Rachel Vincent’s brilliant Soul Screamers series, Kaylee has had enough. She isn’t just going to get even; she’s going to get really really mad.
After her best friend Emma is forced to bury her old body and start her new life in another, Kaylee and team decide it’s time to turn the tables on the Hellions and try to beat them at their own game. What follows is a deadly battle of wills, as they attempt to act as bait. There is a real sense that this is the final battle and both teams are playing for keeps. It makes for intense reading, as one side seems to pull ahead only for it takes a completely different course.
Pacing of the book is intense, with bouts of action and huge amounts of tension. There are still moments of light humor, usual supplied by the brilliant back and forth of the group (in particular Sabine, I love that girl). There are some touching moments as relationships are mended and bridges rebuilt. I loved the direction Kaylee and Tod’s relationship took. It reaches new heights as he continues to be a constant source of support to her, especially in some of the darker moments.
The end was heartbreaking and so completely fitting for the characters and this series. It was with a heavy heart that I shut With All My Soul and said goodbye to these characters but it’s been one hell of a journey! This series will always be cherished.

Review :Crush (Crash #3) by Nicole Williams
Summary :
Football glory. A giant diamond. A wandering eye.
Jude and Lucy are happily engaged . . . but that doesn't mean life's a bed of roses.
Once again, Jude and Lucy are torn apart by football training and a summer job that creates new tensions. This time Jude's the one with trust issues. Will Lucy's life-changing news bring them back together or end their relationship for good? Can love triumph forever?
Review :
" I'll always come back, Luce. No matter how many rip-roaring fights we have and no matter how many miscommunications we have. I'll always come back because you're where I belong."
It's decided. Jude & Lucy have a special place in my heart forever! <3
I loved, let me repeat LOVED this book! The main thing that I loved about this book was that Jude and Lucy dealt with all of their problems, and they were so much determined and determined to keep their relationship strong.
There were all kinds of emotions, all sorts of misunderstanding, but at the end of the day there was this bright light of happiness.
Jude has improved a lot. Like way lot. I don't even know if that makes sense. I remember him in Crash. He was so violent, anger, and immature. And now in Crush, he is this sweet, responsible man, who accepted his life with his new wife and his daughter. Lucy, was a rollercoaster of emotions. And that was so very normal. She had been through a lot, and she just proved herself to be more strong. And I'm proud of both of them.
Their love was so pure, so unconditional and unadulterated that just when I thought they couldn't make me any more happy, they did. As I mentioned in the beginning, their story will be my favorite always!

Review:Never Doubt Me (Judge Me Not #2) by S.R. Grey
Summary:
Can a tattooed, former bad boy leave his past behind? Can he find lasting happiness with the love of his life?
Gorgeous and sexy Chase Gartner hopes to do just that with Kay Stanton. But when Chase’s troubled-teen brother, Will, stays on in Harmony Creek, Ohio—-after an unexpected arrival-—Chase and Kay’s bonds of love and commitment are soon tested.
Chase finds himself caught up in secrets—-and revisiting a past he thought he’d left behind—-when Will makes a number of irresponsible decisions. Despite Chase’s attempts to keep his brother out of trouble, Will’s reckless behavior continues, affecting not only Chase and Kay, but other residents in town...one disastrously so.
But it’s the final, potentially deadly decision Will makes when his girlfriend runs into trouble back in Las Vegas that leads Chase to make a fateful decision of his own. A choice that threatens his relationship with Kay.
Never Doubt Me is a touching, poignant story of love, redemption, and coming to grips with the fact that escaping the past is never easy.
New Adult/Contemporary Romance genres. 2nd novel in the Judge Me Not series.
***mature content, recommended for 17+***
Review:
Never Doubt Me was without a doubt one worthy sequel. I loved this book just as much as I did the previous one.
Its starts a few days after where the previous book left off. Chase's baby brother Will and his girlfriend Cassie showing up at his doorstep with a set of their own problems. No matter what had happened between Will and Chase in the past nothing will tear apart these brothers who love each other to death.
We get to know Will and a bit of Cassie in NDM. And honestly my heart ached for the Gartner brothers. Will for the pain and harships that kid had thrust upon him and Chase for the love he had for his kid brother.
Chase and Kay have to go through a lot of hard situations in this book due to different reasons but the one thing that stays constant is their love and fight for one another. But the road to their HEA is a long one. The problems occuring in NDM were just the beginning. The cliffhanger almost killed me there. I mean seriously guys cliffhangers should be banned!!! :)
I simply cannot wait for the next installment.

ARC REVIEW : Alexa Crushed (Alexa Series, #1) by T.R. Cupak
SUMMARY :
Alexa Morgan lost her mother when she was two. At eighteen, her father and stepmother died when a devastating earthquake hit the Bay Area. Only one person has remained a constant in her life: Devin.
Devin has been Alexa’s best friend since childhood. The two are inseparable—or they were until Devin declared his love for her at sixteen. When Alexa can offer him only friendship in return, Devin retreats, brokenhearted.
Alexa, on the other hand, longs for Ethan, the boy next door. Four years older than her, and with an ever-changing roster of girlfriends, Ethan is everything Devin isn’t: wild, sensual, and unpredictable.
In the aftermath of the deadly earthquake, Ethan makes his move on Alexa, who reciprocates in a confused whirl of grief and desire. When Ethan leaves town the next day, Devin comes back into Alexa’s life, offering support and expecting nothing in return.
Alexa begins to see the advantages of Devin’s quiet, stable love. Can she get past the friendship hang-up while trying to forget bad boy Ethan? It’s a choice that will change her life forever.
REVIEW :
One thing that I liked best about this book is the writing. It was so simple and straightforward that I couldn’t stop reading, right until the last page.
Alexa Crushed, is the story of a girl who is cherished and loved to the core by her parents, who treated her like the princess that she was to them. Tragedy strikes, leaving Alexa lonely as ever and confused as hell. The grief that Alexa is suppose to feel could have been explained a bit more in detail so that the reader could actually empathize. I just couldn’t connect with Alexa’s feelings. Her devastation could have been portrayed better. Another thing that bothered me was her behavior just after the tragedy. I mean just because your sad and grieving doesn’t mean you have to go and sleep with someone. Alexa should have given a little time for that to happen and owned up to her loss. But it is also understandable that some people do use sex as a coping mechanism. So I was able to surpass that.
Seeing that I’m not really a fan of love triangles, Alexa’s feelings for both the guys didn’t settle well with me. Ethan & Devin were both equally hot and hero material. Ethan is your sexy bad boy next door who you dream about secretly in the dead of night. Devin on the other hand is your sweet and gentle childhood BFF who also makes your heart race. Always rooting for the bad boy personally, I totally dig Ethan. But than he had to go ahead and be a jerk. I did have a feeling there was was more to him than was being portrayed. Way more. Which was confirmed at the end of the book.
About the story, I feel it had a potential to be much better. It leaves us at a cliffhanger, but still the overall story felt incomplete. Like something was missing. What did spike an interest, was the mystery that Alexa found in the letters. That alone is going to make me want to read the sequel. I had guessed where this story might be going but the mystery that popped up, has kept me guessing.
Overall, I’d say for a debut novel, T without a doubt did an awesome job! Count me in for the next one.
