Bobby Beckerson was the American All-Star hockey player-- he was the spitting image of perfection to his family. Goofy, sweet and undeniably gorgeous, he had everything but the one girl he wanted: River Ahlers.

River Ahlers is successful in everything but love. She's been in love with Adam Beckerson since they were kids. Worst of all she's stuck right in the middle of the brother's dueling over everything and anything, and she doesn't even know she's the ultimate prize.

Adam Beckerson was a boy with a guitar, a smile that sunk girl's hearts and a stone wall around his own. He was anything but perfect, and no matter how hard he tried he was nothing compared to Bobby. Sweet, damaged, with boyish good-looks, nobody thought Adam loved anyone but himself.
Bobby loved River, River loved Adam and Adam only loved himself--or so everyone thought. Then one night everything changes, and as it threatens to destroy everyone involved a tragedy strikes that will break them all...

high school girls the time of day. Until Isis punches him in the face.

Jack’s met his match. Suddenly everything is a game.

The goal: Make the other beg for mercy.

The game board: East Summit High.

The reward: Something neither of them expected.

**This book contains language, some of which may be unsuitable for younger readers.

**This is the first book in the LOVELY VICIOUS series.

Review :

“And then he came, and pulled her petals off one by one, forcing her to surround herself with thorns to survive. But he missed one petal. And she guards it with a tiger's ferocity.”

Where do I even start?  Lovely Vicious is one incredible read! I literally could not put the book down. I had to drag myself out of the room just to get some work  done. That's how much this book got me glued to it. But then what else do you expect when you start reading such an amazing story as Lovely Vicious.
Each & every character was so beautifully developed and characterized. But most of all I loved Isis. My love for Jack is obvious since I never get enough of tortured souls. And the banter between them, OMG  you do not want me to even get started on it. I was literally rolling on the floor with laughter. Want a glimpse of what I'm talking about? Here you go!

“I would love to slap you right now, but I’m currently wielding a nine pound ball and I’m afraid that would be called murder.”

“Is that how you kissed me?” I ask, nearly tripping as he pulls me along. “Golly gee, it looks kind of mildly fucking embarrassing! No wonder people at school have been talking about it for weeks now. Golly gee!”

“Stop saying golly gee.”

 “Tallyho, chaps!”

“Stop saying things!” He snarls, letting go of me only when we’re around the corner and a tea shop separates us from Madison’s view.

“Things!” I shout.

And this one below is one of the most hilarious scenes i've ever read!

“I feel fine! I’m at least sixteen fines,” I assure him. “Look! I can breathe! I can use my legs!” I do bicycle motions in the seat. “I can headbang!
I bang my head twice and Jack has the fortuitous intuition to roll down the window seconds before I vomit out of it. When I empty my stomach of the last
remnants of my noodles, I gasp and pull my head back inside.

“What? Do you get off on watching my fantastic gastrointestinal fireworks? Is that why
you’re keeping me against my will?”

“You aren’t well,” He insists stonily. “Sit and relax until you do.”

“Relax! Please, tell me, how the hell I can relax
when the world’s biggest snowman is sitting next to me, talking like he has a heart? It’s out of character! It’s….it’s disgusting! You aren’t Jack! You’re some

fucked-up alien from Zabadoo here to take his body back for your beautiful specimen collection, aren’t you?

Leaving all the fun part aside the story also has a serious side to it.  Absolutely loved Kayla and Wren. & just like Isis just reading about Sophia I like her already. And what the hell happened in the end?? I mean I DID NOT see that coming in any way, angle, side or whatever. Yup I'm so not telling you what the hell it is that I'm talking about since it seems Isis is rubbing off on me now. So yeah go  ahead and grab this book right away. If you miss it.... yup you'll
probably regret it for the rest of you long life. *Grin*

I enjoyed reading this book immensely so I simply cannot wait for the sequel. I swear, these cliffhangers will some day be the death of me.

Rating : 5/5 Stars

Carnelian by B. Kristin McMichael
(Chalcedony Chronicles #1)
Publication date: January 10th 2014
Genres: Time-Travel, Young Adult

Synopsis:

Everyone has a past, but for most it isn’t so far in the past as Seth Sangre. His past is literally from thousands of years ago. Seth’s past led him to the present seeking something that might help him save his country from destruction. He has been in the present for over three years now and just found exactly what he has been looking for.

Mari had dreams of college being a fresh start, one where she would start over and not fall for the good looking player like high school. Unfortunately for her that’s exactly what ends up falling into her lap on the first day she moves into the dorms. Now she has to hold to her promise to herself and not fall for the handsome Seth. But he doesn’t plan to make it easy for her. Seth has already marked her as his next conquest. As the semester progresses, Mari learns that Seth might just have a past of his own that’s literally in the past. Suddenly Mari finds her future along with her past put into question. She’s connected to Seth far more than she ever wanted to be and maybe the player isn’t who she thought he was. If Mari can trust her heart enough to follow him, Seth will lead Mari on an adventure of a lifetime and reveal family secrets she never knew existed.

***Excerpt***

And as the story progress Seth makes it harder for Mari to refuse:

“I don’t need luck. I know you feel it, too. There’s something between us, whether you want to admit it or not, and I intend to make you mine. Don’t forget that when you go hugging other guys.” My mouth dropped open, and he pushed it shut with one feather light finger. Seth Sangre had more confidence than every guy I had ever met combined. He leaned even closer with his face only a breath away from mine. I glanced at his lips. He was too close. He was close enough to kiss, and yes, I did want to find out what it would be like to kiss him.

“You’ll be mine soon,” he said with a sparkle in his dark eyes.

I spun around him, past his arm that had just been touching my face, quickly before he could kiss me as I wouldn’t be able to refuse him with the tingles growing throughout my body.

“We’ll have to wait and see about that,” I called back to him as I hurried away and back to my table
with Ty and Sim. I couldn’t help but glance back to the shadow. He stood in the dark, but I could still
see him. He almost glowed slightly. His smile was brilliant as he chuckled at me making my way away
from him. Something was really different with Seth Sangre, and I wasn’t sure I wanted to know what it was.

Excerpt :

Colin wraps his arm around my waist, and we walk to the bar, where three twenty
something, shirtless, attractive bartenders put on a real performance. Seriously, it
should be forbidden to be as hot as these guys are. They are causing something
close to a mass hysteria among the females clustered around the bar.

While two of the bartenders wait on the customers, the third one impressively juggles four shot glasses up in the air. He finally puts them down, swiftly jumps on the bar, and falls onto his knees in front of a group of tipsy, screaming girls who still look like teenagers.

He sits back on his heels and grins at the girls. His distressed jeans tightly hug his strong legs, and his
muscular, naked torso and well defined arms make me want to join the wild females. I quickly snatch a
glance at Colin, but he doesn’t seem to mind me drooling. Or at least he’s smarter than showing any signs of jealousy over this.

One of the women leans forward and tries to kiss the bartender’s washboard stomach, but he stops her, laughing. Another bartender hands him a bottle of Frangelico and a tiny glass. The guy on the counter makes a production of pouring the liquor into the glass, while slowly and seductively swinging his hips to the music. The women are going wild. By now there is a big crowd of them, trying to squeeze in closer. The bartender chooses one girl, leans forward and whispers something to her. She nods, and opens her mouth.

He touches the glass to her lips and pours the Frangelico into her mouth.

Her friends cheer and demand the same treatment. They stick money behind the bartender’s jeans
waistband, as if he is a stripper. Well, he acts like one. Soon he collects an impressive amount of bills. I see mostly tens and twenties. He jumps off the bar and switches places with one of his coworkers—a gorgeous African American guy with dreadlocks. The women hoot and clap in delight.

NEVER BEEN READY
By J.L. Berg
Adult Contemporary Romance
Releasing February 4, 2014

AMAZON/ B&N / KOBO / GOODREADS

Leah Morgan was done with men.  After barely surviving a horrendous childhood, and a boyfriend who bailed when things got rough, Leah had given up on love.  Then she met him, Hollywood’s new golden boy who suddenly had eyes only for her.  She tried to convince herself that one night couldn’t hurt, but after six months, the memories of his mesmerizing gaze and searing touch still invaded her every thought.

Declan James had just one rule when it came to women.  Keep it simple, and never linger.  That all changed the moment he met Leah.  Even across a crowded bar, he could tell she was different. Sweet, with just the right amount of sass, she made him break his golden rule and now he couldn’t walk away.

When casual becomes anything but, and emotions run deep, will Leah and Declan fight their fears, or let old insecurities destroy their one chance to discover true happiness?  When Declan’s past comes roaring back in a way neither of them could have expected, will they stand united or be torn apart by the challenges that lie ahead?

It was only supposed to be one night, but only forever will do.

**FUN FACTS ABOUT NEVER BEEN READY**
By J.L. Berg

• In the very first draft of When You’re Ready – Declan was introduced as
a British friend of Logan whom he met at boarding school.

• Leah is based loosely off my real-life best friend Leslie. It’s no
coincidence both of their names start with “L”.

• The bar Leah and Declan visit on New Year’s Eve is based on the bar
owned by my best friend and her husband in downtown Richmond
called Honey Whytes – best burgers in town!

• The infamous cemetery Declan and Leah visit is loosely based on the
famous Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond.

• The original title was So Not Ready, but I didn’t think it matched the
tone and theme of the novel.

• Leah is very close with the main character of the next book in the
series. ;-)

• The “lipstick scene” is based on a hilarious conversation I had with two

bloggers and an author at Mimi’s. It had nothing to do with a limo.
