blurb   Gavin Brooks is back and he's in love...   In book I, Gavin was an unstoppable player. He was a married man living a bachelor's life. But when he encountered the beautiful Christina, he had an unexpected, and extremely undeniable attraction to her. Book I ended with Gavin in the early stages of a whirlwind relationship with Christina.   However, Christina still has no idea that the man she has strong feelings for, is married to someone else. The deeper that Gavin falls, the more he comes to realize that he needs to tell her. But how can he do that without losing her?   Enter Sharon...a woman scorned, and who still carries a torch for Gavin. She is out for revenge feeling that Gavin used her then threw her away. She wants him to pay.   While Gavin contemplates on how, and when he will break the news to Christina, someone else manages to beat him to the punch. It's a devastating blow to Christina and she walks away. But for how long?   There is more to Gavin than meets the eye, and in this book readers get to find out about a piece of his past that plays a huge role in how he came to be the man he is today. Gavin is forced to relive a past hurt, as he comes to terms with the fact that he may never win Christina back.   Will he do all that he can to win her back? Or will he feel that she is better off without him?       book links

excerpt
Gavin awoke to kisses being planted on his lips, his eyelids, his cheeks, and his neck. He kept his eyes closed so that he could bathe in the affection and the hotness of her lips, as her body pressed against his. It was a feeling that he knew would never grow old. He wanted to move, but then he knew she would stop, and he wasn’t ready for that yet. “I know you’re awake, sleepy head,” she said, smiling. “You just think your kisses will expire if you show signs of life. But I promise you they won’t.” “Okay, in that case…” he said, pulling her on top of him and looking into her eyes. “Damn…do you even know how beautiful you are?” he asked her. “Because I am honored to look into this face—these eyes, and be able to say that you’re mine. It’s almost…like…how did I function before you came along? Because I swear these feelings that I have, I’ve never experienced them in my life, Christina. Never have. Came close, but this…this is something different.” “Wow, Gavin,” she said, before sliding to a more comfortable position, and burying her face atop his heartbeat. She had no words; she only knew that she wanted to be near him and to be held by him.   He rubbed his hand up and down the length of her hair. When he felt slight dew on his chest, he became slightly alarmed. “Baby, look at me. What’s wrong? Come here,” he said, positioning her alongside him and turning so that they lay facing one another. “Did I say something wrong?” “No, baby. Not at all. I’m not crying because I’m sad. Just the opposite, in fact,” she admitted. “I’ve never had anything consistently good in my life. Something happens that’s good and then it’s snatched away, and it just feels amazing to finally be a part of something that I feel has the potential to be permanent.” She paused momentarily, lifting her face so that she could look at him when she spoke the rest of what she had to say. “…And I can’t think of a better person to share that feeling with, than you.” Her stare lingered. “I love…your eyes,” she said, before lowering her gaze away from his. Gavin smiled and lifted her chin prompting her to revisit his gaze. “And I love…you,” he said for the first time since they had been together. He watched her eyes grow in size, then try to shrink back so that her astonishment would go unnoticed. “You love me?” she asked. “I do love you, Christina. It’s not a new love either. I think it’s been there since the beginning, I just didn’t say the words because one, I didn’t know if you felt the same. Two, I didn’t know if you’d think I was crazy for feeling this way so soon. And three, I honestly never believed it was possible to fall in love with a person as quickly as I’ve fallen in love with you.” Christina couldn’t hold back her happiness. A wide grin spread across her face. “I love you so much, Gavin,” she said, blushing, and trying her best not to go super soft on him and start with the tears. “I’ve never actually said that to a man before—a man other than my father,” she admitted.   “Amazing…” he sighed. “So, I really need to treat your heart right,” he said, solemnly. “If I’m only second to your father, that’s huge.” “No pressure, right?” she said, her eyes smiling against his. He softly brushed his hand against her cheek. “Pressure or not, I plan to take very good care of this love. It deserves all of me and nothing but the best of what I have to give. And I plan to give that to you.” “You’re already off to a great start, I can tell you that off top, baby.” Her smile widened, her cheekbones rising as she did so.   “I already know why you’re gushing. You are not right. You’re trying to get Lil’ Gav going and you know I have to leave babe.” Christina reached down, and began to stroke against his reaction, causing him to release a reluctant moan.   “Babe…” he whispered. For real…I gotta gooo. I hate to, but I have to,” he said, resting his lips across the top of her forehead. You want me to be able to perform my duties tomorrow at work, right?” He had deliberately made the statement with subliminal undertones. He was messing with her. “I couldn’t care less if you perform for them, as long as you perform for me.” “And see…don’t you always get a stellar performance from your guy?” he said, motioning his head up and down in agreement. “So you know I’m more than good for making this up to you,” he said, trying to inch away slowly. She grabbed after him. “You’re a tease, Gavin Brooks. Why get me all riled up with all that talk about love, only to leave me all wet and horny? That’s so, so disrespectful,” she said, playfully. “I’ll make sure that tomorrow, there’s not an ounce of wetness left…Scout’s honor,” he said, smiling. It’s just my clothes…my work clothes. You know that, right babe?” He was trying to further his point.   “Baaaby,” Christina whined. “Why don’t you ever remember to bring them for the next day? You know how long it takes me to get into a comfortable sleep after you leave? You do know that you can have as much stuff here as you want. Then you wouldn’t be to blame for my sleep deprivation at work the next day,” she said, pouting.   “I know, sweetheart. I just get so sidetracked. When I leave out in the mornings, you’re already on the brain. Then I get to work and I’m thinking about you there, and then anticipating getting off work so I can come be with you, it’s all I can focus on. That’s how I forget.” “All the more reason that when you get in the house, you should just pack up some stuff and throw it in the car so that when you leave in the morning, you’re good to go,” she suggested. “Orrr…I could always come with you instead.” Gavin was sure his heart skipped multiple beats. He knew at some point she would make that suggestion. And why wouldn’t she? He had to turn away from her before his fair tone began to deceive him and give way to the flush arising within. “No, babe. It’s like the worst of the worst bachelor pads you’ll ever encounter,” he lied. He hated lying to her, but it was all he could do right then. “We’ll work this stuff all out to where I don’t have to long for you as much,” he said, staring into her eyes. “Seeing you at the end of my shifts is definitely a highlight to my days.”  “I feel the same way, baby.” “Well, babe, as much as I hate it, I really have to get going. It’s almost midnight. My alarm will be blaring in approximately four hours.” “Okay. Let me walk you to the door so I get can one last kiss.”   about the author   clip_image004Perri Forrest was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and raised in sunny California. She describes herself as a trilogy---a Businesswoman who navigates through Corporate America flawlessly from Human Resources to Project Management, a Sociologist with a burning desire to save the world, and an Author who loves writing life into fiction.   When Perri suffered the devastating loss of her first cousin on her birthday, in 2006, with a few months left to complete her undergraduate studies, she barely made it through. A good friend not only suggested that she begin blogging to journal her moods and thoughts, that same friend gifted her with a newly designed blog platform, which birthed her first e-journal.   The blog opened a whole new world for Perri and served as a place she could express candidly, about life. When her blog was discovered and she began receiving compliments on not just her candor, but on her writing style as well, it fueled the fire, and thoughts of penning a novel resurfaced.   The lingering doubts of, "Who would even want to read your work?" were replaced with, "Worry about an audience later, and just do it."   And that she did.   Perri writes what she likes to call, "Multicultural Mayhem, laced with Sex, Cursing, Sass and the Occasional Happily Ever After."   Perri plans to perfect her craft and delve into other genres, down the line. With "Amazon bestselling author," added to her list of credits, Perri is in the writing game for the long haul and has no intentions of putting down her pen any time soon.
