Could you be the monster to save who you love?
Two women, separated by generations, must leave what they know to start a new life.
Seventeen-year-old Kate's senior year is ruined when she's moved from the only home
she's ever known. After an isolating month alone in her apartment, school starts, but
neither her classmates nor her teacher are who they seem. Kali, a single mother living
in the nineteenth century wilds of Montana, is stalked by a malicious past. She fights
to keep her daughter safe while her freedom is threatened by her less than benevolent
benefactor. Both find love, and with it hope, but that is quickly ripped away as one
woman must learn the lessons of the other -- before it's too late to save either.
Review :
“The moment you stop thinking with your heart is the moment you start to die a little. It's our passion and love that sometimes makes us choose the wrong path, but is also what makes us feel alive."
Rook had me hooked from the first page. It all started so mysteriously that I just had to know what it was all about.
The story revolves around Kate and Kali. Kate lives in the present whereas Kali is living in the 19th century with her little daughter.
So how are their lives connected? How & why could Kate sees things no normal person would be able to. Who really is Kate? How is she connected to Kali?? Does she have the same powers as Kali does?? All these questions and more were going round and round in my head until I finally found out what was happening after all and I was so not disappointed. I was really happy with the end result Kali and Kate were both really great characters and I had a great time reading this story.
The writing aroused a sense of such mystery that I wasn't able to put the book down. The pacing of the book was perfect as was the ending. I couldn't ask for a better way to end this book. I'm sure looking forward to how Kate's story continues.
